Adopt a pet

Any of these pets can be yours. Adopt a pet. Pets are our greatest love, that is why we cannot accept how many of them suffer, while waiting for new owner. We 100% support the “don’t buy - adopt” action - we ourselves have two dogs and cat from the shelter. An adopted pet reflects love we give him or her twice as stronger. Remember that adopting a dog is a serious matter and you have to consider it in order not to hurt the animal even more by giving it back. If you feel you are ready to take a poochie or kitten home and take care of it -  do not hesitate! There are many animal shelters in Poland - we cooperate with those in Kraków and Sanok. Below you will find few dogs, which are waiting for home - if you fall in love with them, contact us and we will help you with adoption process and give your pet some goodies :)

Sierpień

Sierpień is young dog, which came to the shelter in August 2018 with broken spine, after the car crash. He went under the complicated operation, and bravely learns to walk. During the rehabilitation he is a diligent student - there is a chance he will walk, but hard work is needed. Despite the initial frustration caused by inability to move, he enjoys life more and more. Friendly to people, but does not tolerate other dogs. This special dog deserves special chance. See the pet.

Jamal

Jamal is a crossbreed, very similar to basenji, a little bigger( approx. 24 kg) He has been adopted from the shelter in November of 2013, and returned in June 2014. The owners couldn’t cope with him. In the dog box he was chasing own tail, which ended up with amputation. He knows basic commands: sit, come, heel. He is happy to run by the bike. He is not dealing well with other dogs. In our opinion, it is not typical aggression, but an attempt to dominate anothers. He can pass another dog by, if the distance is maintained. He is very sensitive and little bit nervous dog. He tolerates badly the airport neighborhood, especially when F16 are flying by. Fireworks are not liked. He has big need for biting and chewing. Jamal’s owner should be consistent person with strong, but calm personality. Jamal learns very quickly, including bad things: In the dog box he can hunt a bird, so he would rather be the only pet in the house. He is waiting for new owner in the shelter in Poznań. See the pet.

Żabol

Żabol doesn’t trust strangers, but when he get closer, he is wonderful, joyful dog. You would fall in love with him hearing his squeaking at his beloved volunteers. He needs home with someone responsible, who is willing to introduce some rules, as this dog likes ruling a little bit. He loves walking, he hates bathing. Big dogs scare him, but he gets around comfortably with smaller ones. Small dog with big personality, learns fast, and will do some tricks for treats. See the pet.

Orion

Orion came to the shelter in April 2017. He is large dog, about 13 years old. He is chipped, vaccinated and dewormed. He is adorable and friendly, having emotional and anxiety nature though. In the past he was afraid of many things, now things are worked out. He has inhibitions, but when he trusts you, he is a faithful friend. He walks nicely on the leash. He likes walking, running, romping in the bushes, eating grass. He reacts properly for calling. He likes company of other dogs, but he would better be the only dog in the house, or have a calm and balanced dog as a housemate. The best house for Orion would be with someone who knows how to deal with anxious dog. Family without kids would be recommended here, or with older children. Orion is not the sport type, he doesn’t need intense effort - walking, little bit of running and peace will make him happy. See the pet.

Doggy is a ball freak, especially tennis balls. He treats other dogs differently, with fems he is friendly. He is neutered, vaccinated and chipped (967000009403806). He suffers from hip dysplasia - it would be perfect if the new home didn’t have stairs. See the pet.

Pedro

There are dogs, for which one name is not enough. This terrier is perfect example of it. Pedro - Iwan - Rusek - he is dark shaggy dog and real gentleman. He communicates clearly his need for caress, also when he needs some space. As a fan of snacks, he really like working with people. Pedro came to us after the traffic accident. Thanks to hard work of great veterinarians, he can now go for a walks. We are looking for an owner, who will continue rehabilitation, so that Pedro wouldn’t lose his posture. Someone who will devote time to him, because he definitely needs that. We warn you that is not recommended for this dog to climb stairs on daily basis. Pedro is over 9 years old, is chipped (967000009402326), vaccinated and neutered. See the pet.

Initially, he is a bit withdrawn when in contact with strangers, but he feels very comfortable with his friends and willingly goes for walks. He is energetic but shy. He is excited at the center due to the constant presence of other dogs. We do not know his attitude towards cats, he communicates great with dogs - he gets along with some, with others he does not.

Robin

Robin is a 5-year-old nice, large, stable sheepdog, that would definitely enjoy a house with a yard and walks in the company of his man. Robin has always lived outside, in winter he looks like a bear, actually combing made him slimmer ;) Robin walks with volunteers of all ages, he is strong and has a good appetite. He gets along great with female dog, it can be different with dogs. We don't know his attitude towards cats.

Czaruś

Czaruś also called Czarnik ❤ He is a very young, emotional little dog. He came to us after the death of the owner, he was looked after by many people, he was brought to the Center earlier, each visit was very stressful for him. Czaruś requires a closer acquaintance before adoption, due to his previous experiences with people he does not trust them straight away. He is vaccinated and microchipped, he walks very well on a leash, neutered.

Porto

Porto is an elderly German Shepherd who came to us after the death of its owner. He lived for a long time in a playpen by an abandoned house, he was fed by his neighbours. Porto is a big dog in good physical condition, we have healed his skin (he lived in his excrement) and ears, he is vaccinated and chipped. Porto loves walking and smelling, and has a good appetite. He can walk on a line, reacts fantastically to requests, is a social dog that communicates well with other dogs. Porto deserves a great home. Currently, he has no great problems with his joints, he moves efficiently, he can jump up, run, etc.

Gardenia

"She choked too many chickens...." that’s what we have heard as the reason for getting rid of this wonderful dog. Gardenia was clearly unlucky earlier in life, kept only to deter potential thieves - she had occasional contact with people, so it is no wonder that she was looking for something to do on her own and looked for escape routes. We hope that now her fate will change and she will find a real HOME with loving caregivers. She walks nicely on a leash, she enjoys walks, but what she enjoys most is human attention. She likes to be stroked and although it is obvious that she is not entirely sure if she can demand it, she needs it very much. If you are concerned about how she would cope in the city, our experience shows that such dogs acclimatize well, sometimes at the beginning you just need a little more understanding. Gardenia is generally in good shape.

Alex

Alex is a German Shepherd Dog that was brought to the shelter five years ago as a result of the death of its owner. At the beginning of his stay in the shelter, he proved to be a guard dog intolerant of strangers. Over time, his behaviour changed and improved significantly. He is now a friend with many volunteers and staff who were looking after him over the years when he has been staying in the shelter. He is also open to meet new people, when the process is calm and not intrusive. A person interested in his adoption must take into account the fact that Alex is a twelve-year-old wolf, in addition a bit sick (his ear canal has been removed) and has his own requirements. He should live in a place where he wouldn't have to climb stairs. Preferably inside a house with a garden, which would be used only for walks, because most of the time he should stay in a warm room. Alex keeps his apartment clean as long as he takes him for walks on a regular basis, where he is not pulled on a leash and is not aggressive towards other dogs. It is possible to adopt it to small resident dogs. Alex likes to play with toys, but on his own terms - you cannot take them by force. The doggie likes to be stroked and brushed, but by people he knows. Alex needs a caregiver who is patient and composed as well as firm. For a person willing to adopt him, we offer help in getting to know him, walking together, visiting Alex's new place of residence, as well as veterinary and behavioral help. It would be wonderful for Alex to experience happiness and home warmth at the end of his life.

Neuron

A small, somewhat clumsy pooch left in the Window of Life. He was disposed of because he is blind and probably caused his owner a problem with it. He is very calm, polite, quiet. He does not expect long walks or games, it is important that he would be close to people and feel loved. If you look with your heart like him, take him home and you will gain a special friend. The neuron needs daily instillation of the eyes (the drops are not expensive) and the thyroid parameters are slightly off-limits - this does not require medications at the moment, but it should be monitored. Like every older pooch, it requires a bit of increased veterinary attention - our doctors will provide detailed information.

Serdel

Our beloved "blablador" Serdel has been in Dąbrówka since February. He came to our shelter from Żukowo, where he was wandering alone. He is a wonderful, docile pooch, he knows basic commands such as “sit down” and “give a paw”. He loves walks and snacks. Like every labrador, he admires water. Due to his weight, he has quite a lot of strength, it would be best suited to a house with a garden. We are looking for a responsible person, who will make sure that Serdel loses a few extra pounds.

Rzeczka

Old age has its rights ... in peace and quiet she looks for a warm haven. Rzeczka knows perfectly well what solitude tastes like. Pulled out of the river in Żukowo, all soaked and cold, she waited for help. She loves stroking and warmth of human hands. She certainly remembers the smell of home very well.

Tymek

Tymek is a perfect life companion, he loves people, he is a wonderful little doggie who will surely give a lot of joy and love to a new family. He is a calm dog, so a quiet house with lots of walks will be perfect for him. Tymek, encouraged by the flavors, is very eager to learn tricks, he has no problem with walking on a leash.

Car

Car is a lovely, approximately 3 year old dog. He was found with an injury to his front paw and unfortunately it had to be amputated. Despite its absence, is doing very well. Although the operation took place recently, the little dog is strong and very brave. He willingly goes for walks and walks nicely on a leash. He's not too different from his four-legged friends. In relation to strangers he is withdrawn and shy, but when he gets to know someone well, he wags his tail and is happy to see them. He also likes to be stroked. With each walk, Car opens up more and more to humans. Car ignores the dogs he passes on his walk. For the time being, he lives alone in a box, but after getting to know him he could share the place with a resident dog. Car, although he found himself in a completely new place and underwent amputation of his paw, is a loving, kind dog who does not give up hope that he will find a home. We also hope that he will not have to wait long and will not be judged only by his lack of a paw, but because of his wonderful character. The shelter vets can provide detailed information about Car's health. Contact to the volunteer: 503 081 921

Cezar

Cute, gentle and very friendly to people, older dog. He was kept in poor conditions on a chain. The right front paw was deformed, probably as a result of some injury. Additionally, he had numerous wounds and abrasions on his paws because he was unable to disentangle himself from the chain when it snagged on his paw. It's a wonder there's not a hint of impatience or nervousness in this dog after all this time. From the very first days, he greeted everyone joyfully, wagging his tail so eagerly that the employees of KTOZ Shelter for Homeless Animals in Krakow feared he would fall off ;). . . Unfortunately, it turned out that he has cancerous changes in his lungs. Fortunately, he does not know that there is anything wrong with him - he enjoys walks and contact with people. He is a wonderful dog who urgently needs a HOME! Currently does not require increased veterinary care!
